My name is Amber Drea (pronounced "Dray").

I'm a storyteller, writer and editor whose work has been published by Akashic BooksMcSweeney's Internet Tendency, Hypertext MagazineThe Northville ReviewAnother Chicago Magazine, The2ndHand.com and The Chicago Reader. I've appeared on storytelling shows and podcasts, including Risk!, The Soundtrack Series, Lost and Rewound, How to Get Away With ParentingAll Stars of ComedyEncampment: Fireside Tales & TunesHow I Learned and Sideshow Goshko. I also cohost the weekly open mic Another Round Storytelling at The Grand Bar & Grill in Brooklyn, New York.

I received an MFA in fiction writing from Columbia College Chicago after completing my undergraduate studies at the University of Miami and have held editorial positions at Venus Zine, UR Chicago and Going.com. I'm currently the managing editor of beverage alcohol trade magazine Market Watch, and I'm the founder of the cocktail blog Newyorkdrinkie.com and the food blog Lobsterlover.me. In the past, I've freelanced for AM New York, Spin.com, Chicago Magazine, XLR8R, Time Out Chicago and Punk Planet. I also published the literary journal The Banana King from 2004 to 2006.
