My name is Amber Drea (pronounced "Dray").

I'm a storyteller, writer and editor whose work has been published by Akashic BooksMcSweeney's Internet Tendency, Hypertext MagazineThe Northville ReviewAnother Chicago Magazine, and The Chicago Reader. I've appeared on storytelling shows and podcasts, including Risk!, The Soundtrack Series, Lost and Rewound, How to Get Away With ParentingAll Stars of ComedyEncampment: Fireside Tales & TunesHow I Learned and Sideshow Goshko. I'm also the founder of the open mic Another Round Storytelling, which is currently on hiatus.

I received an MFA in fiction writing from Columbia College Chicago after completing my undergraduate studies at the University of Miami and have held editorial positions at Venus Zine, UR Chicago and For over five years, I served as the managing editor of beverage alcohol trade magazine Market Watch, where I worked for a total of nine years, and now I'm a freelance journalist focusing on drinks, dining and lifestyle. I'm also the founder of the cocktail blog New York Drinkie and the food blog Lobster Lover. In the past, I've contributed to AM New York,, Chicago Magazine, XLR8R, Time Out Chicago and Punk Planet, and I published the literary journal The Banana King from 2004 to 2006.
